A message from Kevin Greene, Redwood Software CEO

I’m incredibly proud to share that, for the third consecutive year, Gartner has named Redwood Software a Leader in its 2026 Magic Quadrant™ for Service Orchestration and Automation Platforms (SOAP) report. This year, we are again positioned furthest in Completeness of Vision.

This recognition comes at a moment when the stakes for orchestration have never been higher. Every enterprise with an AI mandate is asking the same question right now: how do we turn AI reasoning into action, not just insight? We believe the answer lies in tapping into the business logic you’ve spent decades building: the dependencies, the exception handling, the compliance controls that make your mission-critical processes run. Orchestration with a modern SOAP is what makes AI trustworthy enough to act on, and it’s one of the many reasons we believe this recognition carries such weight.

We’re grateful to the customers who’ve shaped this work with us and energized to keep helping the world’s leading organizations accelerate along the path to the autonomous enterprise.

What is the Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for SOAP?

“Service orchestration and automation platforms are essential for delivering IT services through complex workloads. These platforms unify workload automation, workflow orchestration and data pipelines across on-premises and cloud-native architectures.”

2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for SOAP report

The Gartner Magic Quadrant™ is a culmination of research in a specific market, providing a wide-angle view of the relative positions of the market’s competitors. By applying a graphical treatment and a uniform set of evaluation criteria, a Magic Quadrant™ helps you quickly ascertain how well technology providers are executing their stated visions and how well they are performing against Gartner’s market view.

According to Gartner Magic Quadrant™ research methodology

“Leaders execute well against their current vision and are well-positioned for tomorrow.

Completeness of Vision: A plan for tomorrow

Gartner positioned Redwood furthest in Completeness of Vision for the third year in a row: the top spot on an axis that represents where a vendor is taking its customers next. Gartner looks at strategy, innovation and how well the vendor understands where the market is headed, then weighs that against whether its offering will keep up with what customers will need down the road.

For Redwood, a strong vision carries little weight if it isn’t grounded in reality. Gartner’s evaluation looked beyond the roadmap itself, examining the substance behind it. The evaluation scrutinized whether Redwood’s vision is grounded in a credible plan, assessing factors like product strategy, business model and a track record of past innovation.

Gartner evaluates Completeness of Vision based on eight criteria:

  • Market Understanding
  • Marketing Strategy
  • Sales Strategy
  • Offering (Product) Strategy
  • Business Model
  • Vertical/Industry Strategy
  • Innovation
  • Geographic Strategy

Ability to Execute: Delivering today

The Ability to Execute axis is focused on present-day performance: the quality of a vendor’s products, the strength of its business and how reliably it serves customers in practice.

Gartner evaluates Ability to Execute based on seven criteria:

  • Product or Service
  • Overall Viability
  • Sales Execution/Pricing
  • Market Responsiveness/Record
  • Marketing Execution
  • Customer Experience
  • Operations

Why Redwood was named a Leader for 3 consecutive years

Redwood believes being named a Leader reflects more than any single capability. It’s the result of a clear formula: listen to customers, build for what’s coming next and execute well along the way. That shows up across our platform in a few key ways.

  • Delivering a SaaS-native architecture built for today’s scale: Redwood delivers enterprise SOAP capabilities as a true SaaS platform, with no software agents or infrastructure to install or maintain. It’s built to run mission-critical IT and business processes reliably across hybrid environments, whether workloads live on-premises, in the cloud or somewhere in between. Customers get the scalability and reliability of modern architecture without the infrastructure overhead of legacy tools.
  • Orchestrating across the entire hybrid and multi-cloud estate from one platform: A hybrid operating model is increasingly the standard for enterprise operations, with legacy systems and cloud-native applications running side by side. Redwood coordinates and codifies business services and business processes across the entire landscape, ensuring modernization can be effectively managed to deliver transformative change
  • Extending governed execution to agentic AI: Customers can leverage the governed, reliable nature of Redwood’s flagship platform to empower any AI model or agent, including Claude Code, SAP’s Joule or Microsoft Copilot, with a trusted path to execution across enterprise applications through open, governed protocols. This brings agentic AI and traditional orchestration together, so an agentic step runs inside the workflow itself, under the same schedule, rules and oversight as the rest of the process.
  • Staying deeply connected to SAP: RunMyJobs by Redwood is the only SAP Endorsed App, Premium certified, in the workload automation and orchestration category, a result of co-developing alongside SAP’s own teams. This is SAP’s highest level of validation for security, performance and integration. RunMyJobs is also part of the RISE with SAP reference architecture, which means it supports SAP customers’ transformation journeys without adding complexity or risk.

Redwood feels our forward-thinking approach empowers customers to move beyond simple, custom scripting and siloed tools. They can embrace a fully governed business and IT automation platform with AI-powered observability, managing everything from core job scheduling and complex data pipelines to orchestrating event-driven workflows and integrating with DevOps tools. This ensures critical operations and IT automations run without interruption, no matter how the underlying landscape evolves.

Redwood believes our Leader position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for SOAP reflects our commitment to turning that governed orchestration, from hybrid cloud to agentic AI, into real-world results for our customers.

Insights from the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for SOAP report

In our opinion, the 2026 Magic Quadrant™ for SOAP report offers an in-depth analysis of the SOAP landscape and highlights the critical role of process automation in driving digital transformation. The report notes that:

“By 2029, 90% of organizations currently delivering workload automation will be using service orchestration and automation platforms to orchestrate workloads and data pipelines in hybrid environments across IT and business domains.”

and

“By 2030, 50% of service orchestration and automation platform activity will be initiated by AI agents — up from less than 5% in 2026.”
